The Pharmacy Open Day break the barrier of social distancing

Students of the College of Pharmacy at Al Ain University, Abu Dhabi campus, succeeded in spreading an atmosphere of entertainment, enthusiasm and creativity despite the social distancing imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic, through a number of activities during the Pharmacy Open Day, which was organized virtually via Microsoft Teams, in the presence of Dr. Amer Qasim- AAU Vice President, Dr. Khairi Mustafa- Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Dr. Mohammad Ghattas- Deputy Dean of the College, faculty members and students.

The Pharmacy Open Day, which was held for the third year, aims to create an atmosphere of entertainment for students to entertain themselves and enhance communication between their professors, and also by preventing the circumstances of meeting each other directly in this COVID-19 pandemic.

The event included various virtual activities such as; Students imitating the Doctors, Talent show, Sharing the students and Doctors' childhood photos, fun games, and short movies about the student’s situation before and after corona. The students also reviewed their scientific and research work and the latest developments in the college within the "Think Pharmacy" magazine in its third issue.

Dr. Amer Qasem, AAU Vice President said, “We used to attend the pharmacy open day physically in the university theater full with laughter and enthusiasm, and because of the Corona pandemic, we are watching the activities of this day virtually, which shows the joint teamwork between students and professors, and affirms that we can communicate without limits.

Dr. Khairi Mustafa, Dean of the College of Pharmacy thanked all the organizers of this day, stressing that the College of Pharmacy is keen to organize various students’ activities in order to educate students about the various issues faced by them, and encouraging them to use their capabilities and energies in building the future for themselves and for future generations. He also praised the talents of the students, and wished them all the best.

In turn, Dr. Muhammad Ghattas, Deputy Dean of the College of Pharmacy, expressed his pride in the college’s students, their high skills and their ability to organize an integrated virtual entertainment day through which they were able to spread happiness to everyone, stressing on the importance of this day, which the College of Pharmacy is keen to organize annually in order to renew students ’energies and relieve pressure of their study. Adding that, organizing the pharmacy open day this year confirms that nothing is impossible and that distance does not prevent communication and entertainment.

For her part, Ms. Kawthar Kayed, the supervisor of organizing the open day, expressed her appreciation for the students' cooperation, stressing that the aim of this day is to encourage students to show their talents and explore their scientific and intellectual energies not only in the pharmaceutical field, but in various other fields.
