Shamma bint Mohammed spreads the tolerance culture on the International Day of Tolerance

Under the patronage and presence of Sheikha Dr. Shamma Bint Mohammad Bin Khaled Al Nahyan-Chairman of Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan institutions, the Deanship of Student Affairs, from Al Ain and Abu Dhabi campus organized a virtual event on the occasion of the International Day of Tolerance, in the presence of Prof. Ghaleb El Refae-AAU President, Prof. Ibtehal Aburezeq-Vice President of Development and Follow Up and Dean of Student Affairs, Deans, Academic and Administrative staffs and AAU students. Sheikha Shamma talked about the tolerance concept, how we can build a tolerant society, and how the individual can be tolerant, calling for tolerance approach by offering gratitude to others, conveying gratitude and showing respect for what they offer, no matter how simple it is.

AAU President, affirmed that tolerance is an inherent value in the Emirati society which possesses a civilizational and cultural heritage, supported by love, peace, tolerance, openness and coexistence with others. Pointing out that the UAE has become a model for peaceful coexistence, acceptance of the other party because of the wise leadership vision.

The Dean of Student Affairs said that, the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Dr. Shamma for this event indicates her keenness and interest in the International Day of Tolerance, as the United Arab Emirates believes in the importance of this value that contributes to promoting the values of peaceful coexistence and mutual respect among all members of the same community despite the difference in race, religion and culture. Accordingly, Al Ain University is also keen to enhance the value of tolerance by organizing many events and activities that inculcate the concept of tolerance in the hearts of students and make it a life value in the personality of the individual.

The event was concluded with a poem about tolerance by student Nayla Al-Ahbabi from the College of Education, Humanities and Social Sciences.
