Various Activities for the Breast Cancer Awareness

On the occasion of the International Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Deanship of Student Affairs on both campuses in Al Ain and Abu Dhabi organized a series of awareness lectures. With the aim of raising awareness of breast cancer and emphasizing the importance of early screening to eliminate this disease.

At Al Ain campus, Dr. Samia Mohamed Amer from Emirates International Hospital was hosted, to speak about breast cancer and its types, symptoms, causes, complications, stressing on the importance of psychological and social support to be provided to the patient.

Prof. Ibtehal Abu Rezeq, AAU Vice President of Development and Follow Up, stressed on the importance of early screening, and the role of students in urging all women to do the examination, stressing on the need to stay strong in combating this disease, and wishing health and safety for everyone.

Under the slogan "Awareness is Power", the Deanship of Student Affairs at Abu Dhabi campus, in cooperation with the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy, organized an awareness lecture presented by Dr. Marwa Mohamed, a specialist in family medicine, where she gave a detailed explanation of the disease and the factors causing it, explaining the mechanism of breast cancer self-examination. She also talked about cases in which women should consult a doctor, stressing the importance of radiographic examination, or what is known as a mammogram, for women over the age of 40, and who have a family history of the disease.
