Blood Donation Campaign at AAU
Al Ain University/ Abu Dhabi Campus organized a blood donation campaign in cooperation with Abu Dhabi Blood Bank (ADBB) at Shaikh Khalifa Medical City in Abu Dhabi.
Dr. Abdelhafid Belarbi, AAU Vice President, asserted that the campaign comes as part of the University’s keenness on implementing its social responsibility towards the community aiming at raising awareness among students about actively engaging in societal issues and enriching their sense of belonging.
Dr. Zuhriyyah Shana’a, Deputy Dean of Student Affairs, noted that in line with the UAE’s efforts to providing remedies for chronic blood diseases, there is an increasing demand on donors. The campaign, organized periodically by AAU with ADBB, is in tandem with the AAU’s sense of responsibility towards the wider community and its humanitarian role in extending a helping hand to patients and health care institutions alike.
The campaign, which managed to raise more than 45 liters of blood, was made a success through the participation of over 90 students in addition to faculty members and staff.
Dr. Naima Oumeziane, Medical Head of ADBB, presented a certificate of appreciation to AAU in recognition of the University’s unflagging efforts in highlighting voluntary work and deepening the spirits of cooperation and generosity among the members of the community.
