Al Ain University students won first place in the “Aown” Award for Community Service

The students of the Aown Club, part of the Deanship of Student Affairs at Al Ain University won the first place in the Aown Award for Community Service in its 9th edition, which was organized by the Emirates Red Crescent in coordination with the Ministry of Education.

A number of 174 governmental and private institutions participated in this edition of the award, which aims to encourage creativity and competition among students, motivate them to engage in volunteer work, and attract students to participate in the activities of the Student Crescent.

The club's students were able to leave a positive imprint by organizing many community initiatives that targeted people of determination, including those inside the university and others, in cooperation with schools and government/ private institutions. The award team also created electronic projects related to food and medicine that serve the category of people of determination and the elderly, and another project that would contribute to increasing the financial income of the Emirates Red Crescent Authority, and thus providing assistance more broadly to needy groups.

The students expressed their happiness at achieving first place, noting that this victory came because of the support of Al Ain University and the Emirates Red Crescent Authority to organize initiatives and events that serves community, even under the difficult circumstances imposed by the Corona pandemic, we were able to achieve the humanitarian goals that the club seeks, within the precautionary measures, regulations and instructions issued by the university.

Prof. Ibtehal Abu Rezeq, Vice President for Development and Follow-up Affairs and the Dean of Student Affairs, expressed her pride in the students who worked hard to serve the community, also, they were able to face all the surrounding circumstances and launch many innovative community initiatives, engage in society and participate in volunteer work, so they deservedly won this award.

In turn, Mr. Nabeeh Al-Kasasbeh, the administrative supervisor of the team, praised the efforts of the Emirates Red Crescent Authority in enhancing the participation of students and urge them to innovate and contribute to achieving noble goals and positive results within their community.
