Al Ain University Welcomes New Students with a Week Full of Interactive and Recreational Activities
Al Ain University concluded its Freshers’ Week activities across its Al Ain and Abu Dhabi campuses, following several days of orientation sessions, interactive activities, and recreational events designed to welcome new students, introduce them to the university environment and available services, and help them integrate into campus life as they begin their academic journey.
The week featured meetings between Prof. Amer Qasem, President of Al Ain University, and new students at both campuses, where he welcomed them to the University community and spoke with them about their expectations as they embark on this new stage of their academic lives.
Prof. Qasem emphasized that university life represents an important stage for building knowledge, shaping character, and developing skills. He noted that Al Ain University is committed to providing an educational environment that encourages students to learn, take initiative, and make the most of opportunities available both within and beyond the University. He said: “We want our students to view their university experience as a comprehensive journey that goes beyond academic achievement to include gaining experience, building relationships, and developing the skills that will prepare them for the future.”
At the Abu Dhabi Campus, Prof. Mohammad Ghattas, Vice President for Student Affairs, helped welcome new students and highlighted the importance of active participation in the University’s activities and programs as an essential part of the overall student experience.
Prof. Ghattas said: “University life is shaped by many experiences beyond the classroom. We therefore encourage our students to take an active role in student activities, initiatives, and programs, as these experiences help broaden their perspectives, develop communication, teamwork, and leadership skills, and strengthen their sense of belonging to the University community.”
At the Al Ain Campus, Dr. Abdul Jalil Bouzenoun, Deputy Dean of Student Affairs, met with new students and introduced them to the Deanship of Student Affairs and the range of services and programs available to support them throughout their university journey.
Dr. Bouzenoun noted that the Deanship of Student Affairs supports students from their first day through to graduation by providing a range of services and programs that respond to their academic, personal, and social needs. He said: “Our goal is for every student to know from the very beginning where to turn when they need support, guidance, or an opportunity to participate, and to feel that there is a team close to them and ready to help them overcome challenges and make the most of their university experience.”
The Freshers’ Week program featured a variety of sports and recreational activities, electronic games, chess, competitions, and interactive challenges, creating an energetic and engaging atmosphere while giving new students the opportunity to meet one another, build new connections, and become part of the University community beyond the classroom setting.
Through the program, the University sought to ensure that welcoming new students went beyond a traditional orientation experience, creating an interactive space that allowed them to explore different aspects of university life and learn more about the services and opportunities available to them. This approach supported their transition into university life and strengthened their confidence and sense of belonging from the outset.
The activities concluded in a lively, engaging atmosphere, reflecting Al Ain University’s commitment to a supportive, motivating campus environment that combines academic excellence with a vibrant student experience and enables students to build a well-rounded, rewarding university journey.
